Ok, so I’m a little behind the ball (I mean, I’m just posting on Christmas decorating ideas)… but who doesn’t feel that way this time of year? It always just seems that we are just going, going, going, trying to get everything done before Christmas, the end of the year, vacation… whatever it is, there is this feeling that the clock is ticking and I have a million things to do and not enough time (or energy) to do it all. Ugh! I’m pooped just thinking about it!
So, here it is. These can be last minute decorating ideas, just pretty pictures to peruse while you (hopefully) take a minute to do something relaxing and quiet, or maybe inspiration for next year!
Using things you have already and adding some Christmas whimsy is often the most fun, original, and rewarding way to decorate. [source]
Last year, I filled my antique baby scale with lights… simple and easy. Let the antique do most of the “talking”!
I’m a huge fan or using fresh greens over fake when decorating. The smell is wonderful and it’s very hard to truly replicate the imperfect look of real evergreen with faux. The look also tends to be more understated and earthy, but I like that about it. [source]
I borrowed from this look for my own front porch, filling a basket with greens left over from our tree and some lit LED branches. [source]
Simple, rustic, and beautiful. [source]
A beautiful front entrance. [source]
My friend, Cindy Fieler, helped me get the house ready for the Candlelight Christmas Tour last year and added fresh greens to this corner in the window… so clever and sweet.
I also love using real pinecones in my winter decor. This idea is cute, enclosing it under a cloche. (I also love using fake snow, like they’ve done here. It’s also budget- friendly, big impact for the price, and just pretty. You can have a white Christmas anywhere!) [source]
Pinecones, fake snow on my dining room table last year. ( This was another pretty, Cindy concoction.)
Vases filled with white branches and the snow made for such a pretty table top display.
I wish I could tell you how these were made… but I’m sure papier-mache would do the trick. I love the light… [source]
A little mercury glass is always a stunning way to add some festive shine. (Psst! We sell similar ornaments at Silverwood, if you want to replicate the look!) [source]
This reminds me of the Toot and Puddle Christmas story (Let it Snow), which I think I love more than my son does… the illustrations are just so precious, like this photograph.
(Another Toot and Puddle book I must have!)
Our tree this year… Mom scored this awesome burlap ribbon at Home Goods for under $10 a spool!
I didn’t have the time, energy, or desire to spend the extra money on greenery for my bannister this year, but next year, I am totally copying this. Yowza! [source]
Mom, on the other hand, did a beautiful job out at the Farm (again using burlap ribbon from Home Goods).
And just because it’s totally adorable… [source]
A little table setting I was playing with.
We can’t forget the classic orange accoutrement at Christmas… how sweet it is. [source]
The full table with the orange table setting. What a clever idea, with the black paper and chalk as a table cloth?
